These settings apply to new observations only. Every visit keeps a frozen copy of the instrument it was recorded with, so past visits and past exports never change. Back to visits
Observer
Saved once in this browser and applied to every new visit. Prints in the report header and exports as a column.
Instrument version
Duplicate and bump copies the current categories and guiding questions into a new version string — the intended motion when the Methods Team revises the protocol.
Categories
Numbers 1–N follow the list order. Only categories shown during capture take up an Alt+N hotkey, and only the first 8 of those. Fewer categories on screen means faster decisions in the room. Most fellows only reach for three or four while a class is running. Categories hidden from capture still exist and still appear during expansion. Removing a category never alters tags already saved on past jottings.
